New Students

 

We love welcoming new students, whether you're completely brand new to yoga or have never been to BLOOM, here are some things which are helpful to know

How to Prepare 

for your Class

 
Drink plenty of water
~
Avoid eating a heavy meal
2 hours prior
~
Avoid using scented lotions or perfumes
~
Bookings are recommended as space is limited

Breathe

 
Be guided by the breath
 
~
Move with the inhale and move with the exhale
~
Avoid holding the breath

Stay Grounded

 
Each posture begins from the ground up
Notice the parts of your body connected to the ground: Your feet, hands, sit bones. This will help you feel strong, balanced and focused on the mat.

What to Bring

to Class

 
Wear light & fitted clothing
~
Bring a water bottle
~
Bring a yoga mat or yoga mat towel
~
Wear a light jumper in cool weather
~
Bring a hand towel in warm weather

Honour your Body

 
Begin by getting used to moving and breathing
~
Honor what feels right for your body
~
Don’t worry about perfecting the pose
~
Listen to the alignment cues
~
Learn to listen to your body
~
Embrace your uniqueness

ME time

 
This is YOUR time
~
 Take a few moments before you start to tune into your body and your mind
~
Every day will be different
~
Use this information to guide your practice
~
Modify each posture &
vary the intensity where needed
 

At the Studio

 
Please be quiet if a class is still on
~
Remove shoes at the door
~
Turn mobile phone OFF
(or airplane)
~
Advise the instructor if you
are new to yoga 
~
Advise the instructor if you are injured or pregnant
 

Rest

 
Always move at your own pace
~
Rest whenever you need it

Laugh

 
Just like life: relax, smile & enjoy!
~
Yoga is a journey, not a posture
~
You will fall over, you will get back up!
